Ekb_fountainEkaterinburg (alternatively rominized Yekaterinburg) is the fourth largest Russian city, the administrative center of Sverdlovsk Oblast and the main industrial and cultural center of the Ural Federal District. Ekaterinburg is situated in the middle of the Eurasian continent, on the border of Europe and Asia. It was founded in 1723 by the order of Peter the Great as the metallurgical factory and by the 20th century it had become one of Russia's largest and most important financial, industrial and cultural centers. In 2018, it had an estimated population of 1,501,652. Ekaterinburg has been dubbed the "third capital of Russia", as it is ranked third by the size of economy, culture, transportation and tourism. It is located about 1,420 kilometres (880 mi) to the east of Moscow.

Ekaterinburg is easily accessible either via Moscow or Saint Petersburg, or by a direct flight from Europe (Istanbul, Munich, Paris, Prague, Riga, Rome) or Asia (Beijing, Dubai, Harbin, Tel Aviv, Xi'an). The conference will take place at Ural Federal University located in the heart of the picturesque city center.
